L.A.'s vibe is all about it: Balenciaga's sleek dress drop at the L.A. Times Book Fair.
April 22, 2024 medianewsUSA,
Los Angeles. Julian Schultz, EPF. Berlin,
Stage set, 1) September 12, 1904. Artist extraordinaire Gustav Klimt is painting his lover, Adele Bloch, “Woman in Gold,” in his studio boudoir, tucked unsuspiciously in a corner of Wien’s Schoenberg Palace in Austria. Adele lounging in a nude, reading her favorite book and nibbling on a Strudel. Gustav is painting excitedly. The bond between painted art and books is solidified.
Stage set, 2) Fast forward to April 21, 2024, one hundred twenty years later. LaArtTV shakes things up at the bustling Los Angeles Times Festival of Books with a daring question: "Would you ditch your favorite read for a Balenciaga dress? "Create excitement! Surprise women of all ages with their next unrivaled conversation piece." This designer's couture approach was meant for a grand display, his extravaganzas and being influenced by Spanish artists Diego Velázquez and Francisco Goya. Among his admirers was Coco Chanel. The mystique of the Balenciaga idea is embodied in a ”draped mini dress."
Imagine a renowned New York-located fashion sketch artist, Miss Jenny Walton (Vogue), crafting four vibrant life-size abstract art sketches. This contrast framed dress is sketched in Black Siberian Crayon with abstract style, and color hues reminiscent of a Pantene secret palette. Picture yourself in the dress, standing by the art, rocking Jimmy Choo's jeweled mules, passing your favorite book to liveried footmen, concealing your tears of joy or sorrow. Only you know. A woman's choice is accomplished. Cut. Note: (Painting titled: “Woman in Gold,” in 2006 Mr. Ronald Lauder purchased for 136 million). ©™
LaArtTV's question at the L.A.Times book fair captivated not only book lovers but also writers. Who would be the artist you'd love to visit in their romantic hideaway? Imagine a painting transporting you to the Hyden cabin retreat of Nora Roberts, in the storyline of her novel, "Hideaway." This romantic suspense tale follows Caitlyn Sullivan, a Hollywood royalty heiress who vanishes in Big Sur. During your weekend, you not only make tea for Nora but also gather inspiration for her autobiography.
